Four Layer Chocolate Dessert

This creamy dessert has been around for years. It's a perfect dessert to serve evening company or take to a potluck dinner.

Layer #1
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans or almonds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
Mix together with a fork and press into a 9x13 pan. Bake @350ยบ for 14 minutes. Cool.

Layer #2
  • 1- 8 oz package cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2/3 cup whipped cream (or cool whip)
Beat together well and spread over cooled crust.

Layer #3
  • 1 large package instant chocolate pudding
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee granules (optional)
Beat together until mixture thickens. Pour over cream cheese layer.

Layer #4
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Whip cream until it begins to thicken. Add sugar and vanilla and whip. Spread over pudding layer. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Best served within 24 hours. A 9x13 serves 12.

To garnish: grate chocolate over the whipped cream.
