Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Sometimes simple is just best! There are many recipes for a basic coffee cake...with sour cream. This is a recipe which, believe it or not comes from a recipe book of casseroles. It was submitted to a cookbook collection of the Presbyterian Women of Birmingham, Alabama. How did I come to get this recipe? Ahhhh....garage sales and second hand bookstores. Try this...it is moist and delicious as most sour cream cakes go.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Topping:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 3 tsp cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar: add eggs. Combine dry ingredients. Add alternately with sour cream. Add vanilla. Place 1/3 of batter in greased and floured tube or bundt pan. Sprinkle with 1/3 of Topping: Pat down with spoon. Repeat twice, ending with Topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done. Let cool before removing from pan.
